Where you need better ductility and creep resistance, use molybdenum lanthanum oxide (MoLa) instead of pure molybdenum. The special microstructure that MoLA offers is stable up to 2000°C.
MoLa is offered in either stress relieved or recrystallized conditions.
In sheets 0.040″ or less (1 mm), we stock the stress relieved condition. Stress relieving provides better ductility and creep resistance at the high temperatures found in heat treating vacuum furnaces.
Thicknesses over 0.040″ are in the recrystallized condition. Recrystallization provides increased strength over pure molybdenum at high temperatures.
Molybdenum lanthanum oxide has applications in medical devices, high temperature vacuum furnace fixtures, furnace parts, stranded wires, sintering and annealing boats, lighting retaining and feed wires, evaporation coils, research, aerospace components.
